Leaving this review to help others NOT spend $11 on the Caesar salad. It was nowhere near worth the price, and I honestly felt ripped off. The pizza wasn’t bad but I can find something similar and cheaper somewhere else.

I had been SO excited to try Samataro because everyone talks about it like it’s one of the best pizza spots in Austin, so this was honestly really disappointing. When I got my pizza, one entire side was completely burnt (CHARRED) I figured maybe I could just eat from the other side that was lighter, but plot twist that side had a super thick layer of white dough/flour powder all over the bottom. You can literally see it left behind on the plate. It wasn’t just a light dusting either. Every bite was so powdery that it was all you could focus on while chewing. The actual toppings tasted good, which somehow made it even more frustrating because I wanted to love it so bad. I ended up basically just eating the top of the pizza and leaving most of the crust behind. I know places can have off days, but for how hyped this spot is, I definitely left feeling let down.

Based on service at 6pm tonight would *not* recommend. Guy was decidedly unfriendly, pizza Ok, but only water to drink - not even soda. Asked for small paper cup to give my parched pups some water - none, trash can - none. Dude offered to throw my half-eaten food inside trailer bin right under food prep (germs-ick). Highly prefer Meteor next door for great slices, burgers, salads, wine, beer, full bar, cool space inside & out and friendly service. Would pass on this truck.

We heard about this place from Dave Portnoy and had to go try it out ourselves. As soon as we opened the box we knew it would be amazing. The presentations was beautiful. We orders the classic and the vodka. Oh my gosh the vodka pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever had in my life. It is now our top fav pizza in Austin. If you haven’t tried it the you must. Such a cute place and the staff is amazing and so in. They truly put their love into what they do! A forever customer now.

Top-Tier Pizza – One of the Best in Austin We stopped by Sammataro Pizza today and ordered a straight-up pepperoni pie — and it absolutely delivered on all fronts. The crust was perfectly blistered and airy, the sauce was bright and flavorful, and the cheese blend balanced it all beautifully. The pepperoni had just the right amount of crisp and spice, making every bite memorable. It’s easy to see why this food truck has built such a loyal following. The attention to detail and ingredient quality really shine through. It’s up there with the best pizza in Austin, hands down. Great vibes, friendly staff, and seriously excellent pizza. We’ll definitely be back.
